Every so often there is a rumble in the community about legislation that effects our handcrafted industry.

The below info is from an email from the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetics Guild.

On September 14, Congressman Frank Pallone, the Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released a bill proposal, aimed at the cosmetic industry, with fellow Congressman Leonard Lance.  You can read the press release on the Congressman’s website.
This bill proposal was introduced in response to an adverse reaction to Wen Cleansing Conditioner, you can read about this in The New York Times in an article dated August 15, 2016.

There is a group of people in our industry who keep a really tight watch over things to make sure small businesses are thought of during the process.

Lela Barker posted a super-helpful blog post that I really hope you’ll read about the legislation.

A huge thank you to Lela Barker for breaking it down for us, Anne-Marie and the COHE for being on the front lines and to the HSCG for advocating for our industry as well.

Happy Soaping!
