The dill pickle lip balm really piques my interest, in a weird sort of way…lol! I love the raspberry truffle products…and the champagne also. Since I can’t choose just one product, I’ll go with the goody bag! Great job, Holly!”

Her packaging is Beautiful!!!”

Giveaway! Lotion Bar Cafe

If you read Lovin’ Soap E-zine volume 3 then you got to learn a little about Holly Port of Lotion Bar Cafe.  I first “met” Holly when I received a bar of her soap in one of Bramble Berry’s soap swaps.  I fell in love with her labels (and of course her soap).  We got to meet at the HSMG conference this year and she is a blast!  We’re giving away TWO bundles of her awesome products!

I like to call Holly the Bath Bomb Queen!  Its not rare for her to be working on an order of 1000+ bath bombs!  Can you imagine!?

Each bundle from Lotion Bar Cafe contains a bar of soap, a lotion bar, a bath bomb, a lip balm, an eye shadow and an oatmeal milk bath!

To enter the giveaway simply visit Holly’s website, www.lotionbarcafe.com, take a look around and come back here and leave a comment telling us which product you liked the best or found interesting.  You have until Wednesday (9/28).  We’ll announce the winners on Thursday!

Hill Country Haiku Winner!

And the winner is…(drumroll…)…Debbie!  She said…

“I have to go with the Oatmeal Milk and Honey. I know there are no swirls, added colorants, or a fragrance that’s screaming, “buy me”…. but do you see the complexity and beauty of the design on that soap?!!! That’s the beauty of simplicity at it’s absolute best! That had to take a steady hand a patient person and a soap of the perfect consistency. Absolutely gorgeous!”

You’ve just won yourself a bit of randomness.

You are the winner of Wavy Gravy and Lone Star Limited from Hill Country Haiku!

I’ve also thrown in:

  • A mail tube mold with 25 liners you can see in action here
  • 3 samples of mica from www.suppliesbystar.com including Teddy Bear Brown, Egyptian Emerald and Snowflake
  • Sample bag  of lavender fom San Francisco Herb Company
  • Guest hearts mold from WSP
  • Some squirt bottles for soap designs such as this
  • A tea strainer that I use for getting the thin like of mica or cocoa powder between layers you can see in action here
  • 2 soap stone trinket boxes
  • The next issue of the Lovin Soap E-zine for free (it should be done this week or early next week; I’ll email it to you when it’s complete!)

Whew!  I think that’s everything!  Email me your address, amanda@lovinsoap.com.

Thanks to all for your wonderful comments and for playing along.

Happy Soaping!

Hill Country Haiku

I’m sitting here holding a bar of soap in my hand just mesmerized by it.  As I turn it over in my hand or rotate it- it seems as if I’m looking at it for the first time all over again.  Each time I view it…it’s new.  And it’s beautiful.  And it makes a big grin spread across my face.  This is the real deal.  These soaps were made by a true artist.

These were sent to me from Margie Lemmons of Hill Country Haiku

Moroccan Mint

Jolt

Wavy Gravy

Lone Star Limited – Demo soap from the Lone Star Gathering

She sent along two of the Wavy Gravy and Lone Star Limited.  So I’m going to pay those forward along with some other soaping goodies (a surprise)!  Visit her site, come back here, leave a comment and let me know which soap you liked the best (and why) from her beautiful lineup.  We’ll draw a winner on Mon, August  15.

“Our holiday tradition is to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We have a big family dinner and then karaoke for the evening. Sometime between 10pm and midnight we start opening presents. We do this so #1 we are not woken up early by the kids and #2 because on Christmas afternoon we have a family birthday party for both my brother-in-law and my nephew who were both born on Christmas.

PS: I love the look of these soaps!!”

Thanks to all for sharing your wonderful traditions and  memories!  I love this time of year and wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season!

Beacon Creations! And a giveaway!

I was blog surfing the other day.  And I came across this

I don’t know if it was the stark whiteness of the soap (a Lush dupe called Snowcakes), the fluffy star shaped peaks on the top or the happy shimmer of the glitter…but I fell in love!  When decorating for Christmas I love silver, whites and light blues…so this to me is a Christmas soap.  I had to have.  Unfortunately I got over to the Etsy shop, convo’d…and alas…it was gone.  I placed an order anyways as there were other great selections!

This is what arrived in the mail!

And here’s what was inside!

She sent Key Lime Pie, Polar Express, Geisha, Sandalwood Vanilla, a sample of Snowcakes (yay!) and a sample of Monkey Farts.

Two of the fragrances she sent, which I wouldn’t normally order, happen to be my favorites!  The Sandalwood Vanilla is amazing and the Monkey Farts smells wonderful.  I guess it’s just the name.  Nothing with the word farts in it should smell so good!

I love the fluffy high top on the Polar Express and the “whipped cream” on the Key Lime Pie.

Kia was very generous in sending some extra goodies so I think a giveaway is in order!

These two are mine to stay.  Sandalwood Vanilla and Geisha.  Hence their new found nakedness…  ;)   Sandalwood Vanilla will be joining me in the shower tonight for sure.

But I’m thinking these two…Polar Express and Key Lime Pie…need a new home.

Certainly not because I don’t want them!  But in the spirit of the season…I’m in the mood to brighten someone else’s day by bestowing on them these two beauties!

So if you want a chance to win simply comment below telling us what your favorite Christmas memory or tradition is.  Comment  by Tuesday, Dec 14 and the winner be announced on Dec 15.

Looking good, Kia!  You can find Beacon Creations’ blog here and Etsy store here.

Soap dish winners!

Thank you to all that left comments and participated!  Thank you also to the four shops that donated soap dishes for the giveaway!  (KbOriginalsetc, lemonglaze, IntentionalGlass and claylicious)

Congrats to our four lucky winners!  You’ll each receive a soap dish from our giveaway.

Gina Dill- I love many of the Lemonglaze pieces. My favorite is the little soap dish with the fish on it! The detail is so clear and I like where the two fish cross. The motif and glaze both look sink friendly .

Joy- I loved all of the sites!!! But since I am a practical person and am into re-using, I liked Andrew’s soap dish. Second to that would be Creative with Clay’s well-thought out and practical soap dish. BUT I also loved the Asian/natural aesthetics and colors of Lemonglaze…anything by Lemonglaze.

Debbie- This was a really hard choice! The talent of these 4 people is amazing!! I choose KbOriginalsetc , I like EVERYTHING in the shop but my favorite is, the ‘Accented Tawny Soap Dish’, it’s beautiful….the natural colors & design are awesome. There is also a ‘Textured Mossy Plum Soap Dish’ that really caught my eye. This artist combines natural hues & colors to create useful, quality tools for the home.

Gaston- I love the amount of detail that Lemonglaze has on its pieces. Very elegant. The decals and imprints used give the tray and dishes a lot of warmth and story. “Serving Tray” is definitely my favorite.

If you’re a winner, please send your address to amanda{at}lovinsoap.com from the email address you entered when you posted your comment.
