The recipe:
100 g arrowroot powder
100 g baking soda
50 g SLSa
100 g liquid surfactant*
* I prefer to use Super Mild Surfactant Blend™ from Ingredients to Die For
INCI: Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (and) Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate
Depending on what liquid surfactant you use…you might have to modify the recipe a bit. You’ll just have to give it a go. Using the Super Mild Surf Blend, I get a mix that is like bath bombs. If I wanted more of a dough then I almost have to double the liquid surf. I’ve also used DLS Mild from The Herbarie and at the usage rate above the mixture was more dough like. You’ll just have to play with it.
Here’s a video!
Confession: I so didn’t let mine sit long enough before unmolding because I wanted to finish the video so they crumbled a bit. Let yours set up and you shouldn’t have crumbles! 🙂
PS – I just read that glycerin can help make bubbles last a long time in a bubble bath products (2-3%). If you added some glycerin, which of the dry ingredients would you increase to keep the same consistencies? Just wondering what your take is.
Hi Kat,
Yes! Glycerin does help with that. You can actually sub some of the liquid surf for glycerin.
Awesome recipe and love the hint of pinky/red. Adorb!
Great tutorial – thanks! I’ll have to try these soon. And my favorite part – when your little doggie entered the picture! What a scene stealer!
Thanks! Hehe… The treats are on that counter… 🙂
These are so cute! Something else to put on my to do list.
Thanks Krissy! Glad it worked out…lol. Though not exactly how you expected.
Kari, SLSa is Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate. I get mine here…

i just finished making these but i subbed out the arrow root powder for cornstarch. just that one change made such a difference in my outcome compared to yours. i ended up with a moldable dough that wasn’t sticky and held together perfectly instead of the more powdery mix that you have. funny cuz i was wanting the powder this time…
i love this recipe and am so excited that it works so well for me! thanks again Amanda!!
I’m new to soap / body products… What is SLSa???
Thanks for sharing the recipe… You have beautiful pics of your products…
thank you so much Amanda!! i tried this recipe the last time you posted your bubble bars but i made it way to doughy and used too much liquid surfactant. i am going to give these a go again with a mold and see how i do. 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing!
I haven’t tried that one so that’s good to know!
I used coco bentaine and whoa….totally goopy! Thanks for doing this video! These things have been the bane of my existence.
